The Fool's Traverse

Fool's Traverse Event Flyer Angeles Forest | TRVRS Apparel

"A non-organized, unsupported mountain takeover."

The Fool’s Traverse is a non-organized, unsupported mountain takeover created to raise awareness for the protection of Southern California’s local wilderness. The event consists of a challenging 11-peak traverse with stunning views of the Angeles National Forest in its entirety and 3-peak traverse across the 3 T’s Trail from Manker Flat to Ice House Canyon. However, we are aware that committing an entire day to climbing mountain after mountain is not everyone's cup of tea and so, it is entirely acceptable for you to come out at your leisure to climb one mountain or even just hang out at one of the saddles to watch a bunch of idiots fail miserably.

A BENEFIT FOR TRASH FREE EARTH

So besides bragging rights, whats the point of all of this? Well, Negative Ned. We have teamed up with Trash Free Earth to host this event in support of environmental protection! If you are not familiar, TFE is a local non-profit organization dedicated to the the reduction of environmental waste and pollution. They’ve made a name for themselves by hosting volunteer cleanups throughout Los Angeles and the Angeles National Forest.

How do we intend to support environmental protection? The Fool's Traverse is a 100% free event for anyone to join in on the fun. However, this full day of peak baggery will feature our very first virtual raffle. By bagging a peak and posting a photo with your group at the summit register we've placed at the peak on social media during the weeks following the event, you will become eligible for one raffle ticket. Bag another peak and follow the procedure again to snag yourself another raffle ticket and so on and so forth until you collapse or run out of peaks to bag.

3 T's Traverse (3-Peak Traverse)

The 3 T's trail is a gorgeous and wildly underrated trail that spans the Mount Baldy Notch to Ice House Canyon and includes three peaks above 8,000 feet: Thunder Mountain, Telegraph Peak and Timber Mountain. This hike includes Class-1 terrain and the navigation from start to finish is very straight forward. We've timed the start of this hike so that its participants will likely run into the 11-peak starters.

Fool's Traverse (11-Peak Traverse)

Located in San Gabriel Mountain Range, The Fool's Traverse covers 11 peaks almost completely above 8,000 feet with the exception of Sugarloaf Peak (6,930 feet) and features scenic views as well as drastic elevation change. The terrain encountered combines easy dirt paths, with sections of technical class-2 granite, and some steep talus fields. Its participants will be rewarded with stunning views of the Sheep Mountain Wilderness, the Angeles National Forest, and the Cucamonga Wilderness territories as this traverse includes roughly 60% ridge line walking.

The beauty behind this outdoor experience is that although some will aim to climb all 11 peaks, the entire course is flexible to just about anyone's personal fitness level AND this is a non-competitive event. You could come out to climb any ONE mountain on your own time throughout the day and still be eligible for the raffle prizes.
